Record breaking Milla Bennett now sets her sights on Moomba

A member of the local Latrobe Valley Water Ski Club is preparing for the Moomba Masters, after breaking a Victorian record at the highly regarded Mulwala 4 round slalom event.

17-year-old Milla Bennett broke a record held by one of her mentors Jacinta Carroll, who is a former Geelong water ski sensation now based in Queensland.

The Gippsland Grammar Year 11 student also won the Under 17 title at the Australian Masters in January.

The Moomba Masters is traditionally held on Melbourne's Yarra River but due to COVID-19 it has been relocated to Mulwala.

“Moomba will undoubtably be smaller as far as entries go this year because international skiers can’t get here," Milla said, "but it will still be great."

“It will be a great lead up to the Victorian titles to be held during Easter.”

Milla will compete in three event competitions this weekend - Trick, Slalom and Jump.
