Visitors ready to travel after lockdown

Destination Gippsland says bookings in the region during the school holidays have been good. In fact they said tourism interest in Gippsland for the holidays which begin after next Friday (26 June) are "healthy for this time of year."

The local tourism body said the region has been getting busier with visitors, with a mini-surge in interest for regional travel.

Attractions like the Walhalla Goldfields Railway are starting up again, albeit with social distancing measures. Trains will start running from this Wednesday and bookings for the volunteer-run service are recommended.

East Gippsland in particular is ready for visitors after bushfires heavily impacted summer tourism.

Destination Gippsland said people are looking for somewhere to go after the lockdown and other states are marketing themselves heavily in Melbourne. However Destination Gippsland is also continuing to run successful campaigns to draw people to our region.
